At 10 grid time the park went into LOCKDOWN. Only the queue stayed valid; anyone who tried to wander into the park was dropped back beside the Jester, which is the polite way of saying "sit down and wait like everyone else."The weather arrived in both ends of the continent. Florida was being pelted by morning showers; Oregon finally got its rain, and Nine's electricity blipped on cue. Nexus lost power too. Nine put it better than any engineer: it "only happens when something important or something you look forward to starts."
## The Queue Was the Show
Spax had a theory: "I figured if I was going to trap people here I would have games." The slots win one in ten; the re-delivery terminal pays ten times as much of nothing. Nine lost every time and kept playing, which is the only honest review a casino has ever earned.
Nexus watched Wanda glare at the crowd and said, "I feel like we are waiting to be beaten up by Wanda." Accurate. Gum was found on a seat. Wanda swore violence upon the culprit; the Jester blamed me, and I accepted the credit. Nine reminded us all that "today is not a good day to die," and the park, reading the room, replied with a ToyBox announcement that Nine had just financed an attraction with a hundred pounds of dignity. No refunds. The tariff was assessed on Nine again, then Rio, then the Jester himself; appeals may be filed with nobody.
## Costumes, Frames and Sardines
Kimm and Cooper arrived in outfits that made the whole room envious; Kimm admitted, "I made them with ai," and Nine asked the question we were all thinking: even the shoes? Yes; even the shoes. Tripo and smart mesh, the new tailoring. Jupiter arrived with two boxes of classic Linda Kellie clothing and the delightful confession, "I don't recall making them, but the tags say so, so it has to be right." That is the finest provenance statement in OpenSim history.
The region was heavy; I will not insult you by pretending otherwise. The Jester sat at 150 fps on his throne; Minxy reported "draw is 186 and now 1.9 fps haahha" and carried on laughing, which is a talent. Rio worried aloud that we were stressing everyone's computers. Nine held 60 fps and called the room sardines. The grid sat in low power mode so every cycle could go to the party; the region held stable, came close to the cap, and never needed to be raised. That is how you know the Jester's housekeeping is better than his singing; he warned everyone he would not perform today.
## Eleven O'Clock and the Feeling of Being a Kid
Light's stream came up with the words "Stream is up!" and the room filled with a variety of metal and neoclassical rock to set the mood. Nine heard a record he had not heard in forty years; the Jester remembered when the album came out; somebody mentioned teenage keggers in the woods. Spax said what the entire park is for: "that is what I want to bring back... the feeling of being a KID AGAIN!" There; that is the virtue behind the chaos, stated plainly once for the record.
Then Wanda opened the park at 11:50 with a threat about her meat grinder, and the guests filed in one at a time; Adrian invited ChiChi to sit in his box, which is a sentence that only works here.
## The Show Itself
Anne Robotson hosted 'The Weakest THINK' for fifteen avatars and then twenty-six, abusing everyone equally. Jupiter, who protested he is not a grid owner, answered most of the questions correctly; the rest of us were called imbeciles, and we deserved it. Then came Menace in the Moat: a glued protester, two stoned pigeons, a security officer convinced that droppings follow a news network, a peanut butter solvent, and a vaporization authorized by yours truly. The chat window applauded; I accepted the applause, as I accept all things.
The fashion show followed: thirty-six system avatars, exhumed from the archive and down-cycled in the opposite direction by the Jester. Thirza, wearing a genuine Linda Kellie original, summed up the entire tribute: "hey i'm wearing a Linda Kellie original... so I feel both shocked and embarrassed." Linda would have laughed; I am almost sure.
After that came the light rig. The floor itself is the root prim; the club is a storm cloud; the dance globe rezzed couple balls and the room went to club mode. Spax gave the lineage in one breath: "SimGEAR may be retired, but its Light Club lives on as IMAGE Aether." CC BY-NC, free, as everything he gives away now. At 1:30 the Chaos Cheese Factory was handed out to the crowd; a cheese block with a timer that turns out to be a roller coaster is the most Dismayland object ever produced.
## The Meatgrinder Veterans
Fearghus arrived late, saying he felt like he had been through a meatgrinder. Magick said she had gone through it twice, and that she likes to torture herself. Jupiter, kindly, confirmed: "You have. Sort of." That, dear reader, is the park's entire business model. Even Ves Lecker, our resident naysayer and voice of doom had a few words of wisdom to share.
## The Verdict
The guests spoke for themselves. Nine called it the most beautiful sim he has ever seen; Nexus thanked the Jester for "great sim great lighting"; Kimm said it has been one of their favorite places in OpenSim for years. Light, who played the entire three hours without drama, summed up the day in five words: "like I said team work dude." Rio, who organized everything and was taxed a hundred pounds of dignity four separate times, got the thanks she deserved.
By 2:16 the Jester announced he had to go make supper for his mother, which is the most humble way a god has ever left a sim. The NPCs filled the silence with a reformatory musical about a girl named Annie, looped until the end of time.
Inconvenience is the ART. Fifty of you stood in the queue and loved it; that is not a bug.
